On Sunday April 21st 1963, the new SCF Centre at Dareton was officially opened by Cr. H.A. Watson, Acting Shire President of Wentworth. Over 350 people attended the ceremony which marked the culmination of the efforts of the late Mr. C.E. Neville, President of the SCF Mildura Branch and its hard-working members

"If white children could be made aware that there is more to Aboriginal culture than corroborees, witchetty grubs, and spear-throwing, there would be more respect for Aboriginal traditions and more self-esteem for the Aboriginal child."
